Welcome to Our School

Deenway is a family focused and child centred Islamic primary and secondary school in the heart of Reading. Housed in a beautiful grade II listed building close to museums, parks, libraries, mosques, civic institutions, and the river Kennet, our children are surrounded by rich and meaningful learning experi­ences inside and outside the school. Alhamdulillah.

Guided by the teachings and wisdom of Islam, Deenway pupils participate in a deeply enriching and fulfilling educational experience in beautifully prepared Montessori classrooms led by qualified teachers. At secondary level pupils go on to pursue studies through a unique and refreshingly wide ranging liberal arts curriculum whilst further developing life-long skills and strength of character.

Pupils also benefit from a comprehensive sports curriculum including martial arts such as grappling and archery. We are particularly proud of being pioneers of Natural Movement training in the UK and our collaboration with MovNat LLC (www.movnat.com) is an important part of this work. The school hosts the only bespoke licensed MovNat facility in the country (www.movnat.co.uk) and MovNat trainer certifications and workshops bring trainers, athletes and individuals from different backgrounds to our school throughout the year. Many of these people then go on to share their knowledge in their own communities and in their own unique ways. This is also a beautiful way in which we welcome non-Muslims into our school and benefit the wider community with our work.

As your children grow and develop during their time at Deenway, we hope and believe that they will become more confident in themselves, develop a life long attachment to the Qur’an and a strong love for the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad, sallalahu alaihi wa sallam. Together with this, we hope and believe that they will learn new skills and come to understand the beautiful world within which Allah has placed them; that they will recognise through the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah, the things of the world that will benefit them and others; and also learn to recognise those things that might cause them harm so that they can avoid them.

We hope and pray that they will be imbued with the beauty and majesty that is the inheritance of the children of Adam, that they will be people of righteousness, of forbearance, of gratitude, of charity and compassion; stoic and serious when required, but also able to jest and cultivate joy in themselves and others in the manner of our beloved Muham­mad sallalahu alaihi wa sallam.

We hope and pray that they will grow to be intel­ligent young men and women, courageous, erudite servants of their Lord, stewards of the Earth, har­bingers of peace, articulate, composed and inspira­tional.

We hope in the end, that they will be strong pillars of Islam, imbued with the sweet taste of Iman, and beautified by the resplendent lights of Ihsan. This is our hope, our purpose, and our prayer for our children at Deenway.
